What is Cryolipolysis?
Cryolipolysis, also known as Fat Freezing, is a non-invasive procedure which selectively targets and removes localised fat deposits. It is the cooling of subcutaneous fat cells, which
induces lipolysis – the breaking down of the fat cells, without damaging any of the surrounding tissues or skin. The fat cells are crystalized and over a period of 2-4 months are slowly
removed via the body’s natural metabolic (lymphatic) system.
Who is Fat Freezing for?
Fat Freezing is not a substitute for invasive body contouring, nor should it take the place of a healthy diet and lifestyle. It is used to target troublesome areas of fat eg: abdominal pouches for a more toned look. Clients should be fit and healthy, and within 10-20% of their ideal weight. A full consultation will be carried out to determine if it is the right treatment for you.
How is a treatment done?
The treatment is carried out using cryo-cups, which are used to suck in, and cool stubborn fat-bearing areas. The procedure is carried out gradually without causing any harm to the surrounding tissues.
How does it work?
Precisely controlled cooling is applied through the skin to the fat layer. Cooling is maintained for a pre-determined time period to cause damage to the fat cells. The cells crystalize and disperse, and they then begin a natural removal process via the body’s lymphatic system, this process continues for several months, this natural process results in the gradual reduction of the fat layer.
How long does it take?
A treatment can take anywhere between 40 minutes and 2 hours, depending on your individual needs.
Where can be treated?
The most common areas to be treated are, the tummy, love-handles, arms, thighs and back, but we are not limited to only treating these areas.
How much and how quickly will I see a difference?
You can typically expect to lose between 20-40% of fat in the treated area, although results can vary from person to person depending on personal circumstances. Some people notice a change as soon as 2-3 weeks after treatment, however your body will continue to flush out fat cells for up to 4 months after your treatment therefore meaning this is when you would get optimum results.
How many treatments do I need?
Many people only need one treatment on their chosen area, others may decide they require more, I will carry out a thorough consultation in order for us to put together a plan that best suits your needs.
How long does it take to recover?
There is no down-time with this treatment. It is entirely non-invasive, and most clients will even return to work straight afterwards, this is why the procedure is also known as lunch-time lipo.
Are there any adverse after effects?
Some people may experience numbness and swelling, tenderness, bruising , tingling , soreness, however all after effects are temporary and will completely resolve.
Will I put the fat back on?
Our bodies contain a fixed number of fat cells, and therefore will not reproduce. Providing you do not excessively increase your calorie intake the results would be permanent, should you have an unhealthy lifestyle change the remaining fat cells could increase in size but otherwise the results are permanent.
